India

Shreya's mum came to share some special things about India. She showed us pictures of beautiful buildings and pretty saris which the ladies wear. She showed us how to make a rangoli pattern which is put at the front door during Diwali.

We each got to do a little bit. When it was finished, it looked amazing!

We also got to taste a samosa. It was so yummy!!!
Thank you for being lucky last with our cultural sharing. Wow!! We have learnt sooooo much about other cultures.

Mini olympics

We had heaps of fun at our Mini Olympics! The tug of war was the best by far!

South Africa and China

Amy-Lee's mum also took time off work to come and share some South African food with us.

We all thought the melk tert was delicious but we were not so sure about the dried meat or biltong.
Sabrina's mum brought us pancakes and corn dumplings. Yum!! Lucas's nana brought some dumplings that his mum had made and they had just been steamed.
We are being brave and trying so many new tastes. Rainy did a special dance from China. Thank you Rainy:-)

Palestine

Abubakr's mum was so kind to start working late today so that she could show us her beautiful hand embroidered thobe.

She also baked us the most delicious zatar which is a traditional breakfast in Palestine filled with sesame seeds and olives.

Here is Abubakr in his thobe and shamagg.

He and his friend Chelsy are so proud of where their parent's come from but they love living in New Zealnd.

China

Chelsey's mummy taught us sooooo much about China today. This is the double happiness symbol which is red for luck.

This silk scarf shows the beautiful blue and white porcelain made in China.

This is Chelsey's little qipoa which is a traditional Chinese dress.

These are little tiger head shoes that are given to babies for good health, strength and luck.

China is also famous for pandas so Omega baked us panda cookies. Thanks so much!!

This outfit that she is wearing has a Mandarin collar and a braided ring fastening called a frog!!!
